9 days / 8 nights cutting right across southern France by way of Sarlat, the Lascaux caves, the Dordogne and Lot valleys, Toulouse and Carcassonne and into the Languedoc. Visiting Nîmes and Arles before entering Provence and the Riviera
Day 1 Arrive in Bordeaux.
Arrive in Bordeaux and check in at your hotel. Rest of the day is free
to recover from flight. Dinner and overnight in Bordeaux.
Day 2 Bordeaux/Castles and vineyards of Bordeaux.
Start with a panoramic tour and admire the main monuments of the
city of Bordeaux. Afternoon devoted to the visit of some of the
most famous
vineyards and prestigious Châteaux of the Bordeaux region followed
by wine tasting. Gourmet meal in a top Bordeaux restaurant. Overnight
in Bordeaux.
Day 3 St Emilion/Monbazillac/Montignac Lascaux.
Saint Emilion is of course known for its wines but also for being
a magnificent village to visit. Then, en route to Monbazillac to
discover and taste of one of France’s best sweet white wines. After lunch,
a visit to the Lascaux II Caves (a faithful reproduction of the Lascaux
Cave) will transport you back 50 000 years. Overnight in the Montignac
area and invitation to dine with your host.
Day 4 Dordogne valley/Sarlat/Saint Cirq Lapopie
The Dordogne valley and the 'Most Beautiful Villages of France':
Beynac and La Roque Gageac. Descend the river on an authentic “Gabarre”,
the wooden boats that brought goods to the city of Bordeaux after
a perilous trip on the Dordogne and Garonne rivers. Lunch in Sarlat.
Arrive
in Rocamadour,
a famous pilgrimage city during the middle ages. Visit another of
the 'most beautiful villages' - Saint Cirq Lapopie in the Lot valley.
Gourmet
dinner and overnight in Cahors.
Day 5 Albi/Toulouse.
Depart for Cordes-sur-Ciel, a magnificent Bastide perched on a hill-top
and then head towards the city of Albi to admire the Cathedral. On
option is a visit to the adjacent Toulouse Lautrec museum. In the afternoon
arrive
in Toulouse; panoramic tour and visit of the main monuments. Night
in Toulouse.
Day 6 Toulouse/Carcassonne/Aigues Mortes/Arles.
The morning is free to enjoy the “Pink city”. Then visit the
walled City of Carcassonne classified UNESCO world heritage site since
1997. Lunch in Carcassonne. From Carcassonne head towards the Camargue
region and visit Aigues Mortes and the city of Nîmes. Overnight
in Arles.
Day 7 Arles/ Marseille / Cassis / Saint Tropez / Nice.
From Arles we head towards the beautiful Provence region and the
city of Marseille. Panoramic tour and then drive towards the little
fishing
village of Cassis. A short boat ride will allow us to admire the
magnificent pink cliffs of the Calanques before continuing on along
the coast to Saint
Tropez, home to stars and international jet-setters. Dinner and overnight
in Nice.
Day 8 Nice.
Free day in Nice. Night in your hotel.
Day 9 Nice.
Breakfast at your hotel. End of our services
